Really getting started....really.

Well, Keith finished his last project so the truck is getting rolled into the shop this week.  Keith and Nicole went to the lakehouse and picked up Ol' Blue for the doner chasis.  I am going up labor day weekend for a couple days to see the truck in person for the first time and to help kick things off.

Dr. Keith puts a plan together

Not too much going on.  No worries.  This is not a sprint.  Keith is putting together a list of parts and next steps.  I will get that on the site too.  Keith and I will prioritize things and take a next step.  I will let everyone know what we decide to do next.  I don't want to speculate.  I persoanlly would like to media blast all the parts, do all the body work and at least do a full primer job before moving forward.  But I suspect Keith will have a different plan.  It's all good.

Talked to both Travis and Keith this evening and the cab and chasis are safely at the shop in Austin now.  Keith said the cab is in real good shape with just the normal wear and tear for a 56ish year old vehicle.  Thanks very much Travis for going and fetching it for me.  See you soon when you get to NYC!

Travis to the rescue

Travis Duncan left for Kansas Tue 6/19 and was headed home back to Austin when we spoke last night.  I hope to hear that Travis got the cab and chasis to Keith at the shop today.  When we hear from Travis, that means the '57 cab, '57 chasis and '59 fleetside long bed will all be at the shop in the hands of Keith.

Keith Spotted at Airport

Keith Crist picked up the fleetside bed today.  This was the first piece I purchased.  I spent more time looking for the truck bed than I did looking for the truck.  It is almost the most important piece as I want a '55 fleetside and since Chevrolet forgot to make one of those, the bed almost drives the whole project.  Anyway, bed is in the hands of Keith.

Wad Money into Balls ... throw into Firepit! ... repeat ... smile :)

Like I said on the home page.  Today is the kickoff of the Apache blog.  The project has been in the planning stages for a few years.  A few days ago the first parts I purchased in San Diego arrived in Austin via air frieght.  This really begins the journey!

This first post is just a test of this blog software.  I will come back on tomorrow and start documenting the project.  I am in no real hurry as I suspect this will take quite a long time.   The very capable team that I have assembled to do this build are some of the most wild eyed, cantankerous, hill country, free spirits that roam central Texas.  They are a smart and talented crew.... but I still have a bad feeling about this. :)
