1955 - 1959 Chevrolet Apache Truck Build - Texas Edition
6/13/2012 - I am starting to document the project today. I will be posting pictures and chronicling the whole thing through to completion . . . probably in years from now. Keith Crist is going to the Austin airport to pick up the first parts that arrived in Austin today. We are underway!

What happened is, several years ago I started thinking seriously about either customizing my 1992 Chevy Silverado or starting an antique truck restoration project. I never really made a decision and the expense always scared me off . So, when I moved to Stamford and got bored out of my mind, I started reading and studying and googling old trucks. I still was not sure about a project but, in about 2007, I started a project to make a Powerpoint presentation of every truck made between 1937 and 1970 by Ford, GM and Studebaker. I downloaded pictures and documentation and other trivia about each year model and body style and compiled it all into a giant Powerpoint.
Well, I really liked the '55 - '57 Apaches. And. . . I still wanted to keep my '92, Ol'e Blue, in the picture too. I couldn't afford both so I decided to combine the two projects. . . .put a 50's model Apache truck on top of Blue's chasis. . . After looking for Apaches for a few years, I finally pulled the trigger on a 1957 Apache cab and a separate 1959 Apache bed. The Apache cab and bed are going to be set on top of the 1992 Silverado chasis.
